Bangalore — India's Pub Capital Decoded

Why Bangalore's nightlife hits different, and how to make the most of Indiranagar, Koramangala, and beyond.

There's a reason Bangalore is called India's pub capital. While Delhi and Mumbai fight over who has the flashiest clubs, Bangalore quietly built a nightlife culture that's genuinely world-class — and refreshingly unpretentious.

The craft beer revolution started here. Toit, The Biere Club, Windmills Craftworks — these aren't just bars, they're institutions. Bangalore's brewing culture means you can find 50+ varieties of locally brewed beer on any given night. No other Indian city comes close.

Indiranagar's 12th Main is the legendary strip. Within a 500-metre stretch, you'll find gastropubs, cocktail bars, live music venues, and proper nightclubs. The beauty is the walkability — no cabs needed, just stroll from one vibe to the next.

Koramangala is the younger, scrappier sibling. More budget-friendly, more experimental, and home to many of Bangalore's best live music venues. If you're into indie rock, electronic, or experimental sounds, this is your neighbourhood.

MG Road and Brigade Road have made a comeback. Once considered passé, these central arteries have seen a wave of new openings — rooftop lounges, speakeasies, and concept bars that draw a more mixed crowd than the neighbourhood-specific scenes.

The Bangalore advantage: 365-day weather that's perfect for rooftop drinking, a tech-savvy crowd that adopts new platforms instantly (hello, Bassh), and a general vibe that prioritises good music and good company over flash and pretence. If you're new to Indian nightlife, Bangalore is the perfect gateway.
